Buy Certified African Gold in the UK
Independently assayed East African gold for UK investors, refiners and jewellers, documented from source to export and shipped under full insurance.
London is the centre of the global over-the-counter gold market. The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) sets the Good Delivery standard that decides which refiners’ bars trade between banks. London’s vaults, including those at the Bank of England, hold a large share of the world’s institutional gold. Beneath that wholesale market the UK also has an active retail bullion market, a long-established jewellery trade and a hallmarking system that goes back centuries.
YNM Gold Sellers has exported East African gold from Nairobi, Kenya since 2009. For UK buyers we supply 99.99% gold bars in 1 oz (31.1 g troy) and 100 g, natural 22–23K nuggets and 99.9% gold dust. Every lot comes with an independent third-party assay certificate, full chain-of-custody documentation and Kenyan export papers, and ships under fully insured international delivery.

Which Gold Suits Buyers in the United Kingdom
Private investors
99.99% bars in standard weights are the YNM product most likely to count as investment gold for VAT purposes, and each comes with an independent assay certificate.

Natural 22–23K nuggets are raw refinery feedstock. UK refiners apply responsible-sourcing checks, which our documented chain of custody is built to satisfy.

99.9% dust can be alloyed to 9K, 18K or 22K, standards that are all recognised under UK hallmarking, so the jeweller controls the finished fineness.
View Gold Dust →London’s bullion market and Good Delivery bars
Wholesale trading in London is done in large Good Delivery bars of roughly 400 troy ounces, produced by refiners on the LBMA’s accredited list. Private investors usually buy smaller bars and coins from retail dealers. Our gold bars are 1 oz and 100 g, 99.99% pure and independently assayed. They are investment bars for private buyers, not Good Delivery bars for the interbank market.
Raw gold reaches the London market by a different route. Nuggets and dust are normally sent to a refiner, which refines them into bars that meet its own accredited standard. Refiners that supply the London market must follow the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance, so they will only accept raw gold from suppliers who can document its origin and chain of custody.
VAT on gold in the UK: investment gold vs other gold
The standard rate of VAT in the UK is 20%, but investment gold is exempt. Under HMRC’s definition, investment gold means gold bars or wafers of at least 99.5% purity in weights accepted by the bullion markets, along with certain gold coins. Our 99.99% bars are the YNM product most likely to meet that definition.
Nuggets and dust are not investment gold. Supplies of gold between UK businesses can also come under special VAT accounting rules. Confirm how your purchase will be treated with a UK tax adviser or HMRC’s current guidance before you order.
Hallmarking jewellery made from our gold
Under the Hallmarking Act 1973, articles sold in the UK as gold must generally be hallmarked by one of the four UK Assay Offices in London, Birmingham, Sheffield and Edinburgh. There is a small exemption by weight. Bullion bars are not covered by the Act, but jewellery made from our dust or nuggets will be. That is one reason UK jewellers value a precise assay of the raw material: it makes it easier to hit the declared fineness when the finished piece goes to the Assay Office. Our guide on how to verify gold purity explains the main testing methods.
Anti-money-laundering expectations in the UK
Under the UK money-laundering regulations, businesses that deal in high-value goods and accept large cash payments must register with HMRC and carry out customer due diligence. Refiners and bullion dealers have their own know-your-customer procedures. Expect any UK counterparty to ask for company documents, proof of origin and the assay record for each lot. We provide all three as standard.
Importing gold into the UK
Gold imported into the UK must be declared to HMRC, normally through a customs broker or freight forwarder. Since Brexit the UK has been a separate customs territory from the EU. Buyers based in the EU should read our page on buying gold in France for the EU rules. Import procedures and VAT treatment change from time to time, so confirm the current requirements with a UK customs broker before each shipment.
