Buy Certified African Gold in Canada

Independently assayed East African gold bars, nuggets and dust for Canadian investors, refiners and jewellers, with full chain-of-custody documentation and insured delivery.

Canada knows gold well. It is one of the world’s significant gold-producing countries, and its retail bullion market is anchored by the Royal Canadian Mint, whose 99.99% Gold Maple Leaf is among the best-known investment coins in the world. Canadian investors buy bars and coins from dealers and banks, and the country’s refiners and jewellers work with both domestic and imported gold.

YNM Gold Sellers has exported East African gold from Nairobi, Kenya since 2009. For Canadian buyers we supply 99.99% gold bars in 1 oz (31.1 g troy) and 100 g, natural 22–23K nuggets and 99.9% gold dust. Every lot ships with an independent third-party assay certificate, full chain-of-custody documentation and Kenyan export papers, under fully insured international delivery.

Which Gold Suits Buyers in Canada

Private investors

At 99.99% purity, our bars match the fineness Canadian investors are used to from the Royal Canadian Mint and exceed the 99.5% threshold for GST/HST relief on investment gold.

Refiners

Natural 22–23K nuggets are raw gold that a Canadian refiner will process into its own product. The documented origin supports the refiner’s supplier due diligence.

Jewellers and goldsmiths

99.9% dust is a high-purity base that can be alloyed to 10K, 14K or 18K, the karats most widely used in Canadian jewellery.

GST/HST and investment gold in Canada

Canada’s Excise Tax Act gives special treatment to precious metals: gold of at least 99.5% purity in the form of a bar, ingot, coin or wafer. Supplies of such gold are relieved of GST/HST, which is why investment gold in Canada is effectively tax-free at purchase. Our 99.99% bars are the YNM product most likely to fall within that definition.

Natural 22–23K nuggets are below 99.5% purity, and gold dust is not in bar, ingot, coin or wafer form, so neither should be assumed to qualify. Jewellery is taxable. Confirm how your purchase will be treated with a Canadian tax adviser or the Canada Revenue Agency’s current guidance.

The Royal Canadian Mint as the market reference

Canadian bullion buyers tend to compare everything against Royal Canadian Mint products, because Maple Leaf coins and Mint bars are recognised and easy to resell across the country. That is a useful reference point for assessing any other bar.

Our bars are 99.99% pure and supported by an independent assay certificate, but they are not Mint products. When you sell them later, a Canadian dealer may want to test them before buying. Keep the assay certificate with the bar, and read our guide on how to buy physical gold for the questions to ask any supplier.

Raw gold for Canadian refiners and jewellers

Canada has substantial refining capacity built up to serve its mining industry. Like other regulated Western markets, it handles raw gold such as nuggets and dust mainly through refiners, which convert it into branded bars or into grain and sheet for jewellers.

Smaller jewellers who prefer to alloy their own metal can use our gold dust directly. At 99.9% purity it gives a predictable starting point for 10K, 14K and 18K alloys.

Canadian refiners and jewellers increasingly ask suppliers to show that imported gold was produced and traded responsibly, especially when it comes from artisanal and small-scale mining in East and Central Africa. Every lot we export carries a chain-of-custody file that records each handover from the mining area to export, alongside the independent assay certificate. Together they give a Canadian buyer the origin evidence its own compliance checks require.

FINTRAC and dealer obligations

Dealers in precious metals and stones are reporting entities under Canada’s Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, supervised by FINTRAC. They must verify client identity, keep records and report large cash transactions as well as suspicious transactions. Canadian dealers and refiners will therefore expect complete supplier documentation, and we provide it with every lot.

Importing gold into Canada

Gold imported into Canada must be declared to the Canada Border Services Agency, usually through a customs broker. Canada and the US are separate customs territories, so buyers in the United States should see our page on buying gold in the USA. Import procedures change, so confirm the current requirements with a Canadian customs broker before each shipment.
