Buy Certified African Gold in Qatar
Raw East African gold for Doha’s jewellers and goldsmiths: high-karat nuggets, pure dust and 99.99% bars, documented from source and delivered under full insurance.
Gold has a central place in Qatari family life. It is given at weddings and important occasions, worn as high-karat yellow jewellery and kept as family savings. Doha’s Gold Souq, next to Souq Waqif, is the traditional centre of the trade, with jewellers selling and making to order pieces in the 21K and 22K gold that Gulf buyers prefer. Qatar also has no VAT, which keeps the cost of buying gold simple.
YNM Gold Sellers has traded East African gold from Nairobi, Kenya since 2009. For Qatari jewellers and buyers we supply natural 22–23K nuggets, 99.9% gold dust and 99.99% bars in 1 oz (31.1 g troy) and 100 g. Every lot ships with an independent third-party assay certificate, full chain-of-custody documentation and Kenyan export papers, under fully insured international delivery.

Which Gold Suits Buyers in Qatar
Gold Souq jewellers and custom workshops
99.9% dust can be alloyed accurately to 21K or 22K, so a workshop making pieces to order controls both the karat and the colour.
View Gold Dust →Goldsmiths working with natural gold
Natural 22–23K nuggets are already close to Gulf jewellery standards. The independent assay shows their exact fineness, so the goldsmith knows how much alloy to add.
View Gold Nuggets →Private buyers holding gold as savings
99.99% bars let a buyer hold pure gold without paying making charges, which suits buyers who see gold as savings rather than adornment.
View Gold Bars →21K and 22K: what Qatari buyers expect
Like other Gulf markets, Qatar favours high-karat jewellery. 21K gold is 87.5% pure and 22K is about 91.6% pure. Both have the deep yellow colour local customers prefer and are still durable enough to wear. 18K (75%) is used mainly for gem-set and contemporary designs.
The karat of the raw material decides the workshop’s next step. 99.9% dust and 99.99% bars can be alloyed down to any of these standards. Natural 22–23K nuggets can be brought down to 21K or 22K, but nugget fineness varies, so always work from the assay figure. Our guide to gold bars vs nuggets vs dust compares the three forms.
No VAT on gold in Qatar
Qatar has not introduced VAT, although it signed the GCC VAT framework that other Gulf states have implemented. That makes buying gold in Qatar simpler than in neighbouring markets, where investment gold and jewellery are taxed differently. Customs duties and import rules are a separate matter from VAT and can still apply, so confirm the current position with a Qatari customs broker before shipping.
Making charges and custom jewellery
In the Doha Gold Souq, jewellery is usually priced as the gold weight at the day’s rate plus a making charge for the craftsmanship. Much of the trade is made to order, including bridal sets, bangles and necklaces. A workshop’s margin therefore depends on controlling metal accurately, because a piece that falls below its stated karat is a costly mistake.
That is why every lot of our gold nuggets and dust comes with an independent assay certificate. You know the fine gold content before you melt, and you can calculate the alloy needed for each piece.
Hallmarking and dealer regulation in Qatar
Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry oversees the sale of gold and the hallmarking of precious metal articles sold in the country. Dealers in precious metals are also subject to Qatar’s anti-money-laundering rules, which require customer due diligence and record-keeping. Expect your Qatari counterparties, and your own bank, to ask for clear documents on where your gold came from. We provide them with every shipment.
Qatar, Dubai and the Gulf gold trade
A large share of the Gulf’s bullion trading and refining takes place in the UAE, so many Qatari jewellers have traditionally sourced metal through Dubai. Buying raw gold directly from an established East African exporter removes a layer of intermediaries, provided the documentation is complete. If sourcing through a Gulf hub suits your business better, see our page on buying gold in Dubai.
